Bihar weather alert: Heavy to very heavy rain expected in Patna and 8 districts within 3 hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Patna has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Patna and eight other districts including West Champaran, Samastipur, Vaishali, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Nalanda, and Darbhanga. The alert states that these districts may experience intense rainfall and winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour within the next three hours, continuing until Tuesday evening.

Bihar has experienced fluctuating weather conditions over recent days, with alternating spells of sunshine and rainfall. On Tuesday morning, rain was reported in Patna and several nearby districts. The IMD has forecast continuous rainfall activity in many districts for the coming days, indicating a persistently unstable weather pattern across the region.

For the next seven days, the IMD predicts very heavy rainfall in districts such as Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, West Champaran, and Katihar, all under an orange alert. Additionally, East Champaran, Sheohar, Madhubani, and Sitamarhi districts are expected to see moderate rainfall and thunderstorms under a yellow alert. The possibility of lightning strikes has also been highlighted for several districts.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, very heavy rain alerts have been issued for West Champaran, Gopalganj, and Siwan. Heavy rain warnings are also in place for Kishanganj, East Champaran, Samastipur, Khagaria, and Munger districts. Yellow alerts remain active for districts in the Kosi-Seemanchal and Ang regions. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions during this period of heightened rainfall activity.
